Fisher Houses prioritizes their rooms according to the severity of the medical condition. All active duty, retired military and military family members who live at least 40 miles away from the medical center are eligible. Referral can be made in advance, however, that does not guarantee placement into the FH. There is no charge to stay at the FH and demand for our rooms is high; because of this, families should make a back-up plan and be prepared to stay in a local hotel (average $125 a night).
The Fisher House receives a significant portion of their funding through charitable contributions. Our donations come from individuals, spouses’ clubs, military organizations, and chapel designated offerings. The Fisher house operates as a Non-Appropriated Fund Instrumentality (NAFI) of the United States Army. Donations made to the Fisher House are tax deductible. Donations can be mailed to: JB Lewis-McChord Fisher House, 90700 Gardener Loop, JB Lewis-McChord, WA 98431.
JBLM Fisher House is located near the city of Lakewood and the surrounding area of Tacoma.
