The Signal Captain Career Course Class 05-16 (SCCC 05-16) came out to the Fort Gordon Fisher House on Saturday June 4, 2016. They were divided into two groups and given a briefing and tour of the Fisher House. Afterwards they volunteered and gave a helping hand at the Fisher House. The members of the SCCC 05-16 primarily worked outside in the sweltering heat and accomplished several tasks to include cutting and trimming shrubberies and small trees around the Fisher House and meditation area etc., they also cleaned-out and organized the inside of the shed. When everything was completed each member of the class was presented with an Army Fisher House Coin. See attached pictures of the event.

On June 6, 2016 the American Legion Family Department of Georgia purchased, donated and had delivered a much needed shed to the EAMC Fisher House – Fort Gordon, GA. Members from the American Legion Family Department of Georgia were present when the shed was delivered to the Fisher House. Attached are some pictures of the arrival and placement of the shed and the acceptance of the keys of the Shed from Mr. Mitch Russell with Bennett Building Systems to Ms. Miriam Stein (1st VP AL Department of GA and AL Post 178) and who was primarily instrumental in getting the shed for the Fisher House along with and Mr. Pat Garrett ( AL Post 178) Mr. Anthony Knapp, (AL Post 178), Mr. Donald J. Leger SR. (Commander AL Post 337 and with the Sons of the American Legion), Ms. Lisa Collins (AL Post 178). They in turn presented the keys to the shed to Mr. Francisco Cruz, Fort Gordon Fisher House Manager. Mr. Francisco Cruz (FH Manager) later presented a Certificate of Appreciation signed by the Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center Commander (COL Weber) to the American Legion Members present which they in turn will present to all their members at their annual state convention for the American Legion Georgia later in the month. The American Legion members present also had the opportunity to meet and speak to 2LT Angel Lopez and his wife and daughter (Fisher House Family). See attached pictures.

We are so thankful for the support of our community! The Vogelweh After School Program held a donation drive to help stock our pantry! We say it all the time, but we could never provide the level of support our residents deserve without the support of our community!

Congrats to Lorie Southerland and all of the wonderful people involved with the opening of the new and improved Fisher House Foundation home in Fort Bragg, N.C. So glad to be part of the mid-April supply drop of games and to get to tour with Operation Supply Drop. It is a beautiful facility that will be a welcome respite for families who wait, pray and hope at Womack Army Medical Center.

We are so grateful to Girl Scout Troop 700 for providing and planting beautiful flowers in our planters! We cannot think of a better way to welcome the month of May than with flowers! Thank you for your dedication to serving our residents!



Mr. Tim McCarthy with the Knights of Columbus District Deputy, District 24, Augusta, GA; and Mr. Jim Clifford, PGK, FDD, Georgia State Advocate, Georgia State Historian, Knights of Columbus Charities, of Georgia Board of Directors and several members of the Knights of Columbus, the Color Corps Commander St. Teresa’s Assembly stopped by the Fisher House on April 28, 2016 and made a contribution to the Fort Gordon Fisher House. Mrs. Bernadette Sales, FH staff, and Mr. Earl Cooper, Fisher House Family Member, greeted the group to the Fisher House and accepted the donation on behalf of the Fisher House.
